Caioti and the local Tujunga Village Community (scroll down for news)

Hello, My name is Carrie LaDou. I am the owner of Caioti Pizza Caf in Tujunga Village, Studio City. We are a small neighborhood place that serves great food in a casual, friendly atmosphere. My husband, Ed LaDou, opened Caioti 23 years ago in Laurel Canyon. Ed was well respected in his profession and widely credited with the concept of California Style or Gourmet Pizzas. We moved and have enjoyed our home in Tujunga Village for thirteen years now. I have been managing the caf since December of 07 when Ed passed away of cancer. I still consider Caioti a family business and intend to stay put for as long as we can. We have happily offered our customers a BYOB policy for thirteen years, using and renewing annually a license we understood had been properly transferred from our previous location. Recently we were informed by the Dept. of Alcohol Beverage Control that our license was not applicable to our current location and we would have to start over, from scratch, to apply for and hopefully obtain a new license. Our current endeavor is to successfully complete the process, obtain a new license, and reinstate our popular BYOB policy with no corkage fee! For thirteen years we have had no incident, injury, police activity, or other adverse occurrence while offering BYOB. We will take every measure to insure that record remains. We close around 10:00 pm Sunday thru Thursday and 11:00 pm Friday and Saturday. Nothing will change. The process of attempting to acquire a beer and wine license is time consuming and very expensive, and there is no guarantee that we will actually get the license until after the time and money are spent. Im contacting you, along with many others, to offer my time and attention to address any concerns and answer any questions you may have. Any and all comments good, bad, or otherwise are welcome and appreciated. We have already begun feeling the financial effects of not being able to offer BYOB to our regulars and we see them going elsewhere. I want to be clear that I am not pursuing a beer and wine license as a means to generate income from selling beer and wine. I plan on carrying a limited, modest selection and only because it is required by law. Im pursuing the license, as it is the only way I can continue a BYOB policy, and therefore RETAIN the business I already have. If granted a beer and wine license, I will take the responsibility very seriously. Every measure will be taken to ensure the continued safety and serenity of our customers, staff, and neighbors. I encourage any questions or comments you may have. Please contact me anytime at the number below. Sincerely,
Carrie LaDou
